One baby was strapped on my back while one crawled inside the playground. I stayed up all night days, for months, sanding and taking wallpaper off, all with one child. Ha! The house was starting to look good, but there were a few things left. In this undertaking I had planned to invest a significant amount of money and time searching for the perfect home. For my budget to remain intact, I went with my three boys in search for deals at estate sales. Every week, we would walk through estate sales and garage sales on Fridays and Saturdays and purchase a variety of antique and brand new furniture. Then I would spend working on my projects outside in our driveway. The look was a little similar to the following... This is the place where my passion for in the process of restoring old furniture got started. I continued to restore furniture even after we had completed the renovation of our home. There was a spot on the market in town in which I sold my pieces. It was possible to expand my space because I owned numerous pieces I needed. Then I began hosting open houses at my house where over 1 000 people came through on a single weekend and could purchase whatever they saw on the first floor. Growing Days was created in this home. Apart from my successful business, I also grew our family. Finding the balance was important to me. I wanted to balance being a mother as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days fit perfectly. In 2013, my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. I adored where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed a break. I made the decision to take some breaks from my old furniture and stay at home with the children. It was time. It was only after several months that the phones started to ring. The people who called me were asking for help with the interior decoration and remodeling. Most of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. After that, I gradually took on new clients according to my own pace. Soon I had multiple clients, and had a business of home renovations. It would have probably amused me if I had told you that this would become the basis of a DIY Network tv series. If I think back, it still makes me smile.
