The actress began acting and dancing professionally around the middle of the 1990s, with Boulder Dinner Theatre, and then the Country Dinner Playhouse. She then moved to Minnesota and was made a part of Drop Dead Gorgeous, a mock documentarian film about beauty contests. Following her successful screen debut with the role of an obnoxious but friendly contestant, Janet relocated from Minnesota to Los Angeles where she began professional acting.
